BACKGROUND

BACKSTORY

Born into the now absorbed Avagnar tribe, Tsolmon’s life was fairly uneventful - though an attack on her tribe by the Garleans was one of the many things to weaken her tribe, and she and her family were forcibly enlisted when they helped the others escape. Though young at only eleven moons, Tsolmon showed great martial prowess, and so was put under the command of Aiolus quo Berytius - and with her name changed to Tsolmon aan Santori. While originally trained in the art of the axe, Aiolus taught her the way of the rogue and ninja, from those captured from Othard. Her skill quickly surpassed her teachers, and with the promise of freeing her parents and tribe members, she was sent to fight on the field for Garlemald.

Except the promise was a lie. Tired of being told over and over that the promise would be kept if she did a little more, she used her skills to snoop into private conversations and files. Her parents were dead, killed in slave labour, along with the others who weren’t forced into being soldiers - all of whom, were also dead. Despair overcame her, but after eleven summers she knew she couldn’t overtake Aiolus in a fight - so she waited. Bided her time for a mission that would put her in a small team - then she organised their deaths, leading rebel forces to them, and escaped into the shadows (Now in bad fic form if you want to read about her having a bad time). By this point she was Tsolmon pyr Santori, and about to reach another promotion - and when her commander tried to go after her, she managed to take out his eye before using his surprise to slip away completely.

Part of her wished to return to the Steppe, but she knew it would be impossible after all she had done. So she wandered for a while, aimless and striking down any soldiers she stumbled across, before an elder Raen, Hideharu, came across her exhausted and starving. Taking her in, he chided the young girl before forcing her to rest and recover. As luck would have it, he was one of the few ninja that escaped the Empire’s grasp, living and hiding away in secrecy as he waited for others of his clan. It took some time, but Tsolmon eventually revealed to him the details of her escape and capture over the years, and so he took the young girl under his wing. He taught her that the skills she was taught to kill could be used to help - with the vow that she now uses her blades against the Empire.

But he was old, and only becoming older. Entrusting his soul stone to her, he told Tsolmon to stow away onto a ship, away from Doma. She wasn’t strong enough to take the Empire here, not yet, but he knew she could find strength once she was finally set free from the cage she had been put in. Tsolmon only departed once he drew his final breaths, now 24, and made her way to Eorzea - easily hiding away onto a boat to Limsa Lominsa. And that’s when she has a strange vision…

A REALM REBORN

This is so long and boring I hate ARR. Also canon-divergent, because she’s kinda dumb and doesn’t realise how uncommon Xaela are outside Othard so she doesn’t hide her horns. There’s a lot of staring but she gets used to it, and her rep protects her. The Ishgardians flip their collective shit when they see her because dragon looking lady that can breath fire (it’s a ninja trick pls don’t hurt her), Alphinaud and Cid stop them from trying to kill her basically. Doesn’t like being the big hero, but her resting lineface hides how she actually feels.

Was also really into breaking into the Castrum and the Praetorium and destroying everything.

HEAVENSWARD

PLEASE DON’T HURT HER.

Anxious Xaela Sweats Intensely in Dragon Hating City. Except she becomes horribly attached to everyone there because despite her status and what she is, they treat her like a person and like family and she hasn’t realized how much she’s been wanting that.

STORMBLOOD

Revenge intensifies. Also while she fights the Naadam in the name of the Mol, Tsolmon makes it VERY CLEAR THEIR KHAGAN IS AN AVAGNAR. SUCK IT. Now in fic form.

SHADOWBRINGERS

Where’s the undo button she wants to go back

PERSONALITY

The Warrior of Light seems like a calm, stoic figure who speaks little and seems perfectly in control of all times. Except Tsolmon is an expert at displaying calm and is usually a bundle of anxiety about something or rather, and careful observation will give that away - a fidget of her hair, a twitch of her tail. Her life has been one of upheaval and fighting, and so outside of the battlefield, Tsolmon is unsure of how to conduct herself. Social niceties aren’t her forte, and she has a habit of being incredibly blunt and speaking her mind - when she does deign to speak, at least.

Tsolmon is just naturally an introvert, and so she tends to leave the talking to others - though she isn’t exactly shy, as she has little issue letting her thoughts be heard if she needs to put her word in. She’s aware of how abrasive this makes her, and has tried to correct herself with little luck - more than once she has accidentally insulted someone and had to let her more charismatic friend to clean up after her. But her heart is in the right place, and she’s too kind to simply walk by when someone needs help - and far too empathetic not to let someone's pain be her own. She does genuinely want to help others, to save them, despite the risks it puts on herself. And despite how upfront she might be about some tasks being stupid and a waste of time.

Which likely boils down to the guilt she holds over her past. While some would say she was young and was lied too, she still willingly fought for Garlemald - still killed in their name. It’s a guilt that always weighs heavy on her, sometimes thinking maybe if she realised sooner, she would’ve been able to save her family. This guilt is only exacerbated at the deaths of her friends - such as Ysayle, Haurchefant and Papalymo - something she still blames herself for - especially since she’s meant to be the Hero, but she couldn’t even save a dear friend. She so desperately wants to help, both so nobody has to suffer like she did and so to atone for the blood on her hands.

Not that it stops her from killing. Her target now the Empire, she doesn’t hesitate to throw herself into the battlefield against them - not hesitating to strike them all down. It’s one of the few things that can spark her ire, and it’s only by listening to others that she can still her blades during stealth missions around them. In battle she’s at her element, confident and swift, sometimes only appearing comfortable when she has a blade in her hands and an opponent before her. If she loses, it only pushes her to become stronger and stronger, knowing she needs to become more powerful. She actually enjoys the thrill of battle, mostly because it's what she knows best and it's what she's good at - and is one of the few times she truly feels free, when she can let loose in a fight. But she also knows she won’t know what to do, if she ever confronted Aiolus again - her fear of him buried in far too deep. So far she counts herself lucky, that their paths never crossed. Though she knows it’s only a matter of time, especially now that her name has started to spread across the globe.

But there are lighter aspects to her personality. While naturally quiet, she’s more talkative around her friends - revealing a playful, upbeat young woman. Deadpan snark is her forte, and she’s able to easily juggle jokes with those she’s at ease around - rather than stonewalling as she tends to do. She’s fond of gently teasing the twins, seeing them as her younger siblings, and she holds a great deal of admiration towards Y’shtola and Tataru. Tsolmon also holds a great deal of curiosity towards most things, her upbringing not allowing her to explore much outside of battle - and she’s proven to have a strong creative side, enjoying sketching anything that catches her eye to remember it by. Usually whenever she arrives somewhere new, she’ll spend any free time sketching any landmarks and sometimes people that catch her interest. Her sketchbook is almost always on her person, even when she travels to the First.

Tsolmon is also... not the most patient. Kind-hearted as she is, she has no patience for fools and those that stir her ire, and isn't afraid to let her disapproval be shown - sometimes physically. And despite all her training as a ninja, she's wont to rush into things without really considering the outcome. Mostly because she feels she's ran out of too much time already, and so wants to get things done NOW. Especially now that she can experience all these new things, and she doesn't want to just sit back and wait. Unless she's reigned in, she tends to go off to do her own thing without a care - always thinking with her feelings, rather than her head. Luckily she tends to listen to her more calmer allies, especially since her default solution to fixing a problem is to fight it. An adrenaline junkie through and through basically, and she prefers doing things the fun way rather than the boring way - more reasons why she lets her fellow Scions tend to more delicate matters.

Though as confident as she acts around her friends, she’s also easily flustered - genuine shows of friendship and such are met with embarrassment, still so unused to something like that. And anything even resembling flirting is enough to get her to blush under her scales, attempting to either change the subject lest she make more of a fool of herself, or pretend it flew over her head.

All in all, the Warrior of Light is a kind, dedicated Hero - who is actually a quiet, awkward and blunt young woman who still struggles to find her place.

ABILITIES

🌟 The Echo: It's... a lot of things, but basically it lets Tsolmon resonate with souls and allows her to see past memories, as well as being able to speak and understand all languages. It also gives her some really bad headaches.

🌟 Ninja

🌟 Warrior

🌟 Fisher

EXTRA

🌟 Can read with some effort, thanks to some literacy lessons while she was conscripted, but she can’t write at all. If she needs to write something, she’ll just doodle it instead. (in TFLN/text memes, assume she's using voice to text)
🌟 Her art skills are actually rather impressive - it's one of the few times she'll actually sit down and focus, outside trying to learn to read/write. She's made sure to sketch all the friends and allies she comes across, treasuring the sketches of those who died.
🌟 Has small fangs and claw-like nails - though usually her nails are hidden by her gloves.
🌟 Rarely wears anything that isn't her armour. She feels very vulnerable and exposed when she has to wear something more casual - and she can hardly stand wearing anything formal.
🌟 Got her smoking habit from Hideharu, mostly a pipe with fragrant herbs to calm her nerves. Usually smokes more often before a big confrontation such as The Ghimlyt Dark.
🌟 Hates spending money, simply because she’s never had it before. Usually she has to be encouraged to buy better gear if she can’t pick it up somewhere.
🌟 Can’t stand to drink anything poured or served by someone she doesn’t know.
🌟 Always keeps a blade on her somewhere, even when she’s bathing she keeps one of her daggers nearby.
🌟 Has some knowledge of how to work magitek and use Garlean gunblades. Prefers not to use this knowledge unless she has to.
🌟 Sometimes goes by Moni. Call her something like MonMon and she won't be too happy.
